“Harmony can be defined as the pleasing arrangement of parts or as an internal calm. Overall, I strive to create this feeling of harmony through composition, subject matter, and materials.
These compositions involve carefully choreographed interactions of shape, color, material, and texture. My primary concern is the visual interest and formal design of the work as a whole. I choose to arrange these pieces on a wall to emphasize the physical texture that is created between the forms and the surrounding surface.”
Meagan received her BA in studio art with a concentration in sculpture from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. As an Artist-In-Residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, she instructed both youth and adult classes, participated in gallery installations, fundraising auctions, and artist outreach programs. She continues to teach, and has instructed workshops at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. With nature as her primary source of inspiration, Meagan combines materials such as glass, steel, clay, and found objects to explore relationships between form, space, texture and color.
